BOLLYWOOD BOMBSHELLS… from left, Helen, Rekha, Dimple Kapadia,             Mallika Sherwat, Katrina Kaif and Vidya Balan

We do have certain opinions of what looks hot and what does not. However, in Bollywood, there are certain women who helped shape these very opinions and some other who have given their all to change these opinions as well. amoda brings you a roundup of Bollywood beauties who have redefined the concept of hotness…

One can possibly not talk about hot women in Bollywood without mentioning the muse of them all- Helen. She started off her history being a solo dancer and won most of her fame being a dancer. She brought songs such as Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu, Mehbooba and Yeh Mera Dil to life and got ingrained in the minds of millions of people. Her unabashed sensual nature certainly did establish the benchmark of all those item girls we see today.

Rekha is not only an amazing actress, she is also incredibly sexy. All you have to do is talk to a man from the 70s or 80s and ask him who the hottest woman was then and you will certainly get Rekha as the answer. The best part of her USP is the fact that she did not even have to shed her clothes to sizzle people- she did that with her very eyes! Her demure nature, innate sexuality and uber confidence has all added up to make Rekha the very definition of hotness for the generation.

Dimple Kapadia
During a period of time when all women in Bollywood wore sarees and salwar kameez, a young woman revolutionised the scene by wearing short skirts and midriff revealing tops. Dimple  appeared as the young, sexy girl in the romantic movie Bobby, and boy did she steal some hearts! She certainly made miniskirts fashionable for a long time- this itself is an achievement in female sexuality in Bollywood.

Mallika Sherawat
This is a woman who needs absolutely no introduction as a sex siren. Her unabashed sexuality was what made her first movie Murder, so successful and that is what established her position in Bollywood as the sex siren. She also carried this role with pride and no visible effort. It seems to come to her naturally. She changed the views of a lot of people about women, their body and their sexuality in Indian cinema.

Katrina Kaif
Katrina emerged onto the Bollywood scene as a bubbly, sweet young woman (contrary to the image portrayed by her in her first movie, Boom). She stole a lot of hearts with her loveable and warm roles and certainly shocked a lot of people when she turned her hotness quotient on. While it was clear that she did have an innate, yet dormant sensuality, it did not become popular or apparent till her part in the hit movie, Sheila ki Jawani. This is a transformation that shows that hotness is not only sensual or hotness, it can also be sweet and likeable!

Vidya Balan
This is the latest woman to revolutionise the role of women in Bollywood. In Dirty Picture, Vidya had definitely redefined hotness. She bought about the introduction of full figured, curvy women in Bollywood, which was running after the size zero figure. Her fabulous acting in the movie and her brimming confidence definitely added to her popularity. It is beautiful to see Vidya blossoming as this confident, young woman who is comfortable in her skin and her personality. Hopefully more people in Bollywood will choose to do the same.
